語言中,我以為對華人來說,華語反而是最難搞好的一門語言。並不是信口雌黃,而是在生活當中,常聽聞讓人啼笑皆非、丈八金剛摸不着頭腦的“高水平”華語表
達全都是出自馬來西亞炎黃子孫之口。我的解讀是,正因為華語是華人的母語,許多華人理所當然的認為自己講得一口流利的華語、自己的華語造詣是不容置疑的,
然而他們說起華語來錯誤連篇自己卻渾然不知。
詩巫這塊福地孕育出來的福州系炎黃子孫,在使用華語作為與他人溝通的媒介語言時,不置可否的將博大精深的華語福州化。這些福州式華語聽在福州系的華人耳里,非但不會予人怪異之感,反而倍感親切;但是聽在非福州系的華人耳里,恐怕卻可以比做“鴨子聽雷”,一塌糊塗。

些日子,我忙着批改初一孩子的作文,發現這些福州式華語已流布甚廣、荼毒太深。對孩子們來講,福州式語法是他們再熟悉不過的寫法,更何況,在口語上家人都
是如此表達,亦沒有人糾正過他們這樣不合邏輯的寫法,弊病隨着時光的流逝往不知名的方向無止盡的延伸,每每讓我膽戰心驚、唏噓慨嘆。
“吃好飯”、“穿好衣服”是學生寫文章時常出現的字句,試問就吃飯這一回事,有分個好或壞嗎?其實他們要表達的是將飯菜吃完或將衣服着穿整齊的檔兒,可是寫出來的字句就充斥着滿滿的福州味道。
正確的寫法應該是“吃過飯”或“用過餐”、“穿戴整齊” 。
“看醫生”、“看電視”、“玩電腦”更是令人噴飯的福州句式,我們這些語言教育工作者看了只能搖頭嘆息啊!“看醫生”到底是要看醫生的啥呢,長相?抑或身高?“看電視”指的就只是看着電視的機身啊;“玩電腦”那更不得了了,是將電腦機身折開來把玩呢還是有其他的玩法呢?
正確的寫法應該是“看診”或“求診”、“觀賞電視節目”、“玩電玩” 。
執教至今11年有余,最令我震憾的福州式華語莫過於這一句“打開煤氣”。我真的差一點就從椅子上摔下來了,“打開煤氣”呵,多有“創意”的句子。這樣的表達意思是說:面前有一團氣,叫做煤氣,這團氣有一個閉着的開口,是可以被打開的。
我的天哪,這是什麼華語啊?我拿了這一條句子給高三的學生做修正,修正后的句子是這樣的:扭開煤氣。氣,真是氣,這樣的修正,請問與原句有差別嗎?
正確的寫法應該是“點燃瓦斯爐” 。
身為炎黃子孫,能說能寫流利的華語是我們應盡的本份,但是有多少人真正可以做到說寫流利,正確且隨心所欲地遣詞用字,恐怕是屈指可數。學華語,還請各造多多用心哪!

Mazu (媽祖)
People in Sibu do not know much about Mazu, but Mazu is a big thing in many places, ranging from Fujian Province in China to Taiwan and all over Southeast Asia. I last heard about Mazu when people wanted to build the biggest Mazu statue in Kudat.
Our lack of knowledge about Mazu in Sibu is due to the fact that we were introduced Christianity. The priests stopped us from knowing some of the cultural practices. Many of the Chinese cultural practices have been banned by the priests. Burning hell money is one of the simple examples. However, talking to 100 Chinese in Sibu, 99.9 of us still carry some kind of Taoism mentality. In fact, Christianity in Sibu has also been very much Chinesenised (if there is such a word). I still believe that Christianity did not ban the Chinese from some of the cultural practices, but the priests (interpreters of Christianity) did.
I always got scared when I saw Taoism temples worshiping God and ghosts or deaths with the food and fruits, or they leave these along the path on my way home. I afraid that the ghosts would follow me home. However, as I grew older, I started to understand some of these Chinese traditions and cultures. I learned to understand it. I knew that our church have bad-mouth the Taoism as a belief in ghosts and evils. In a society where Christians constantly fought for survival from abuse by UMXO, I also started to learn that I have to respect the Taoism believers (although I still could not accept some of the practices, such as burning hell money and feeding deaths with fruits and food).
In our multi-religion society, we should learn how to respect the religion of others as if we wanted to be respected (back to Confucius teaching: Don't do it to others if we do not want others to do it to us). Christianity have been blamed for causing permanent loss to the cultures and practices of many native people around the world, and even the Pope once expressed apology to it.
Taoism definitely have been abused these days. Chinese, a race who love gambling, approached the temples for 4D number. I have seen many, and enough. A law should be set up to ban such malpractice and prosecute the representative of the temple.
I am surprised that we do not hear much about Mazu although we have a Henghua community in Sibu. Mazu originated from Henghua village in China. This was a true surprise to me. Henghua people must be very proud of their culture. Mazu is listed as one of the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

媽祖離世時鄉人感其治病救人的恩惠,在湄洲島上建廟祀之,這就是名聞遐邇的湄洲媽祖廟。祖廟於天聖年間(公元1023-1032年)擴建,日臻雄偉。明永樂年間(1403年-1424年),航海家鄭和曾兩次奉旨來湄嶼主持御祭儀式並擴建廟宇。
在明朝永樂年間鄭和下西洋時期,是媽祖信仰向海外傳播的一個高峰。此外,隨著大量而不間斷的華人海外移民活動,媽祖信仰的傳播範圍更廣、更深,各地華埠(尤其是沿海地區)多可見媽祖廟的蹤影,譬如日本長崎、橫濱的媽祖廟、澳門媽閣廟、馬來西亞吉隆玻天后宮、菲律賓隆天宮、香港銅鑼灣天后廟。乃至於歐洲和美洲也開始有了媽祖廟。

我們已經有幾所大學了﹖
每到選舉﹐就有大學的影子在飄浮著﹐像清明的鬼。
假如鬼是真的話﹐不知道我們已經有幾所大學了。

首长:迎合再生能源发展 顺舸献议巫建工艺大学
(本报诗巫31日讯)为迎合再生能源发展走廊对技职工人的大量需求,诗巫拟建一所工艺大学。
砂州首席部长丕显斯里泰益玛目透露,拿督斯里黄顺舸高级部长游说他在诗巫建立这一所工艺大学。
“对此,我们希望我们可以共同合作去完成落实兴建这一所大学。”
他透露,这工艺大学的建立是为了迎合砂再生能源走廊的发展需求,尤其是栽培专业技术人才的需求。
他表示,在再生能源走廊发展下,州政府已改变了发展策略,由早期的以农业和小型工业为主,转型至重工业,比如,与诗巫邻近的丹绒玛尼将发展成为食品加工工业区。由现在到2030年,砂州将需要大量的科技技术人才,包括技职工人。
他强调,砂州将不只朝向经济转型,而是朝向全民转型。
“州政府希望通过这经济转型的发展下,提高全民的收入。因此,人民必须改变思想,改变心态,包括学生在选择深学上的选择,改变教育系统,应以迎合现在和未来的需求而定。”
砂仍缺乏专技人员
他披露,砂州目前仍严缺技职工人,专业技术人才,包括技职工人,比如电脑操作员等。
“我们必须改变以把握这些工作机会。学生必须重新拟定他们在这一波新经济发展中所应扮演的角色。”
“现代的年青人不再满足于中等的收入,而为了达到高收入目标,你就必须迎合市场需求。因此,年青人受鼓励装备自己,学有一技之长,学有专业技术和更高深的学问。”
他保证,砂州将在未来20年更繁荣进步。
他指出,砂州将成为世界工厂,因为,砂州拥有强大的动力,即由水力、煤炭发电所带来的数以亿兆的电力为优势所在,由澳洲、纽西兰等入口原料,进行加工,然后供应至中国、印度和东南亚其他国家。
他再三的鼓励年青一代做出改变,以迎合这一波由砂中区再生能源走廊带来的经济大发展,然后,受惠其中。
他是于昨晚受邀出席假晶木酒店宴会厅举行的“卫理学校110周年暨校友会40周年双庆晚宴”上致词时﹐如此表示。
